TEDDY'S ACCESSORIES
POM POM DOLLS
Craft Pom Poms are available in many different sizes. The smallest I have seen are 3mm. The next size is 5mm, 1/4", 1/2" and then they get larger. There are some with holes in the middle (presumably to make neclaces or bracelets etc.,) Glue pom poms together as I have below and you can easily create little people, insects and fantastic creatures. Add bits of card for a beak or wing, add pieces of felt, chennile stems and your only limitation is your imagination.
I thought these little people look cute enough to be accessories for miniature bears . .

They could be a fiddly, but they are really simple to make. These
are quite small and I used 5mm and 1/2" pom poms. Smaller ones make smaller
figures, larger ones (not surprisingly) make larger ones.
You will
need:
10 little pom poms
2 larger pom poms
Glue. Pens or something to
mark features withStep 1
Take the two larger pom poms, put a bit of
glue on the top of one and place the other
on top. These form the head and
the body. I suggest you use pale pink pom poms for heads and hands
and if
you want to suggest feet, use them there as well.
Step 2
Take one small pink pom pom and glue it to a different
coloured small pom pom.
Repeat this with another two pom poms and when the
glue on both is dry, glue a set of two pom poms
to each side of the 'body'
- don't forget to glue the coloured ones NOT the pink ones, which are the
'hands'.
Step 3
I use three pom poms for the legs and a different
coloured one for feet/shoes - so four pom poms in all. Glue two pom poms
together, then glue each set of two together to form the leg and foot. Repeat
for other leg and when dry
glue the legs to the body remembering NOT to put
the foot/shoe against the body!
Step 4
Features: I simply draw these on with gell or other
suitable pens. Blue/Green/brown or whatever for eyes, Red or pink for the
mouth. I sometimes use black for the mouth as it defines and shows up
better.
Step 5
To enchance the look of the little doll, you can add
'hair'. I make mine by pulling apart one of a suitable coloured pom pom of the
size of the body, and you end up with a pile of fibres. I don't worry too much
about applying it correctly (although I am sure there is a better method or
way). I apply glue to the area I want the hair to be on and simply push on bits
of the fabric and press it as carefully as I can into place and let it dry. I
suppose you could trim it
a little to make a better shape.
To make longer legs or arms, just add more pom poms.
To make larger
dolls, use larger pom poms.
SNOWMAN
Glue two or three white pom poms together for the head and
body. Glue small white pom poms together to form his arms. Sizes are at your
discretion, For this size snowman, I used three 5mm pom poms..
I cut a
circle and a small strip out of felt (I used black) put glue on one side of the
strip and rolled it to form the
top of the had. When dry, I cut a little bit
out of the centre of the circle (only because I thought it would sit better on
the snowman's head). Then I applied glue o the bottom of the little felt roll
and pushed them together, allowing that to dry before putting glue on the
snoman's head and putting the hat in place.
I cut a tiny longish triangle,
glued the shortest edge onto the snowman's face to form his nose. If not to
your liking, there is no reason why you cannot trim it when in situ. You could
assessorise further but I will leave that to your imagination!
GOLLY
More or less identical to the 1 to 5 Steps as above but replace
the pink colours with black.
