THE MARKET

These are the initial pieces I created after having the

idea to make the MiniBear Market Project

This is what I created... read on to see how it developed

Give me time, and eventually ideas form in my head and this time I have come up with something which will allow me to create some new things (always satisfying, especially when they work out!) but also to a way to use some accessories made for previous projects, which I had not needed.

I have been working on a number of ideas to make up market stalls, As usual, I come up with ideas of what I want with little or no idea on how I am going to acomplish them!

It may interest you, dear reader, that I am considering attempting to make clothing rails with clothing. I suspect the rail will be easier to create than the clothing to put on them!

I also hope to make a Flower Stall, as I have a lot of a product initially for use in card making, but I have found it useful in a number of miniature projects as well.

I have a number of Kimono MiniBears and unused sushi which I made for previous projects. This is definately an option to use to make another market stand. Whether it would look right - is another matter.

Did you know that you can purchase online miniature hangers? Of course buying some is not an option for me - not that there are any small enough for my MiniBear projects!

Knowing I needed a few basics, I created these market stalls, clothing rails and began trying to create tiny clothing hangers.

In order to make everything to the scale it seemed a good idea to have one of my MiniBears around to use as a rough 'measuring tool'.

The red band around the front table is just a rubber band being used to hold the shaped card in place whilst the glue dries.

This photo shows one of the covers I made for the market stalls and the beginnings of what it might look like when placed on a board.
Painting the stands makes them look a bit better and at this stage the placement was going to be on a squarer baseboard.
The clothing rails have been painted in silver to look more like metal.

At this point I really had to consider what the market stalls were going to be.

FLOWER STALL

This was the first stall I knew I was going to make. I do think I achieved a colourful and (hopefully) interesting stand.

There is a mixure of blooms on display. I made quite a few of these myself, using Flower Soft and making my own water containers for the flowers to stand in. In fact they were made from thin card which I painted an appropriate shade of shiny green. The finished stand is not all that different to the mock up I made.

JEWELLERY STAND

I was really quite pleased the way this turned out. The colourful necklaces and jewellery sets are made from thin wire and tiny jewels. (A different use for nail decorations!)

BOOK STALL
Miniature versions of actual book covers shrunk down and glued onto fun foam sheets.

.

This was a really enjoyable stand to create.

From making the individual books through to installing them on the shelves of the stand.

FABRIC STAND
Bolts of real fabric, plain and patterned ready to be cut to the lengths required!

The stand as it is here 'felt' incomplete, however after adding signage and the stallholder holding a measuring stick) it look better.

POTPOURRI STAND

The glass containers were originally bought as miniature 'jam jars' for a 1/12th collector dolls house I had (now no longer in my possession). I filled them with more colourful flakes (Flower Soft again), added some bowls/spoons holding samples which I made from Fimo.

The only difference here is the addition of the stall cover.

CLOTHING STAND
.

Way back when I began this project, the clothing rails came to me very quickly - completing this stand ended up taking the most time.
